Rain, Gardens, Patisserie: Nearly April in Paris

 March 30, 2022

It rained quite a bit this morning. So, after a beautiful breakfast in the hotel restaurant, we crawled back into bed to wait for a break in the downpour.  By noon I'd had enough of our room and decided it was time we saw Paris...rain or shine!!

We started our tour by walking to the Galeries de La Fayette shopping center where the city can be viewed from the rooftop. It was a good place to shelter from any bad weather. The walk was full of beautiful stores, eye candy galore and pastries...so many beautiful pastries!

My feet...both of them are not happy. I've stopped talking to them no matter how much they complain. How dare they decide that I should not walk as much as I desire!!  When I was here in 2015 they pulled the same trick and I ignored them and saw the city by foot anyway. It is frustrating to bring along such angry im"ped"iments. They are privileged to be making such a wonderful trip. Imagine the feet that have walked these streets over the past several hundred years. The history, the painters, the leaders and dignitaries! So, after some disagreement, we have made a pact. I get to roam the the city, museums and stores if I rest every 3 miles and agree to soak them in a hot tub at the end of the day. Deal!

After the required mid-day rest we put in a few more miles, this time in the rain. The Tuleries (park and gardens), window-shopping and people watching, are all still beautiful even in bad weather. After all that's why umbrellas were made!!

Enjoy the pictures while I rest my two impossible companions.

Breakfast was as pretty as it was delicious.

Simple eggs with just a touch of seasoning, dill and Roquette (arugula). Wouldn't it be lovely to eat them this way every day.

No,  I did not take the pastry from that plate! I wanted to very much...but I resisted all of them!

Impossible shoes!

More temptation.
Guess what's back in style!!

Do you see mice on these impressive chocolate delights above??

So many cheeses so little wine!

Nearly succumbed to the ones above!!

Tomorrow, late afternoon, our Barcelona friends arrive. I hope we can put a in few miles before we meet them for drinks and dinner!
